Job Overview

Project Coordinator

We Animals Media brings visibility to the lives of hidden animals through compelling photography and film. Thousands of our photographs and videos are accessed globally through the We Animals Archive, providing visual content that is global, relevant, and free.

We are living in a historical time for animal advocacy. Stories which were once relegated to the sidelines are now emerging as the lens through which to view some of the most pressing issues of our time. As interest in animal topics ramps up, We Animals Media finds itself positioned to play a critical role in both documenting and connecting these stories to media, educators, policy-makers, and individuals who can amplify their reach.

Over the coming years we will be working to capture more visual content by expanding our network of talented photographers and videographers, and make it more widely available by improving the way our images are accessed via the We Animals Archive.

Our Archive is central to our mission to be at the forefront of animal photojournalism. To accomplish our goals, we will be upgrading the platform we currently use to make our image and video content available to a platform that can accommodate our growth. The new Archive will be revenue-generating, easy to use, and accessed regularly by a global audience.

OVERVIEW
This position will oversee the development, roll-out, and integration of our new Archive. This will include participating in the new platform selection process, setting timelines and keeping the team on track to hit key milestones, and working with key team members on the transition to and roll out of the new Archive to its global user base.

This person will understand that the Archive is foundational to the work we do and why we do it, and will be jazzed at the opportunity to be the linchpin in this process

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify key project milestones, set timelines and workback schedules using our project management tool, working in collaboration with the Director of Operations to coordinate around other organizational events and deadlines
  • Be the primary point of contact for the platform vendor, and work alongside our Tech team to help translate needs and updates between the vendor and the team
  • Actively identify project risks and help set contingency plans and workarounds
  • Help establish administration processes for uploading, editing, and working with our team of photographers and videographers
  • Collaborate with our Editor to develop and manage the Archive taxonomy and ensure that essential metadata is being populated in the digital assets
  • Coordinate and collaborate with key team members during all steps of the implementation and roll out, including the Fundraising team on implementing the Archive donation model, the Communications team on the Archive promotion and transition strategy, and our Designer and Editor
  • Help train the team on use of the platform, including an Archive Administrator
  • Anticipate and advocate for future needs around our Archive

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
