We are sharing a specialised full-time W-2 opportunity for experienced XR and real-time graphics engineers with strong backgrounds in OpenXR development, immersive application architecture, performance-sensitive rendering, and interactive systems engineering.
This role supports an exciting opportunity through Cincinnatus LLC, an enterprise staffing company that partners with leading technology companies to place highly skilled professionals into full-time and long-term contingent roles.
Selected professionals will join an onsite team focused on building and maintaining OpenXR-based XR applications, collaborating closely with engineers and cross-functional partners to prototype, implement, and iterate on immersive experiences across OpenXR-capable runtimes and devices. This role is especially well-suited to engineers with strong 3D real-time development experience, practical OpenXR knowledge, and deep technical understanding of XR rendering, input systems, and runtime behavior.
Key Responsibilities
Professionals in this role may contribute to:
OpenXR Application Development
Develop XR applications using OpenXR across architecture, implementation, testing, and iteration workflows
Build immersive experiences that run across OpenXR-capable runtimes and devices
Contribute clean, testable code and support basic CI and build scripting needs
Interactive Systems & Runtime Feature Development
Build interactive features including input handling for controllers, hands, action sets, and haptics
Develop scene and interaction systems such as grabbing, ray interactions, and 3D UI workflows
Integrate platform and runtime features including tracking spaces, anchor-like constructs, and relevant OpenXR extensions such as passthrough or scene understanding
Rendering, Debugging & Performance Optimization
Implement rendering and performance optimizations including frame pacing and latency-sensitive updates
Debug runtime and device issues related to graphics, tracking, and input, and provide clear reproduction steps and fixes
Collaborate with product, UX, and engineering stakeholders and document designs, tradeoffs, and technical decisions
Ideal Profile
Strong candidates may have:
3+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent
Hands-on experience shipping 3D real-time applications such as XR, games, simulation, or visualization
Practical experience with OpenXR core concepts including instances, sessions, swapchains, spaces, and actions
Strong skills in C/C++ and/or C#, along with solid debugging ability
Experience with a real-time engine or framework such as Unity with the OpenXR plugin ecosystem, Unreal XR pipelines, or custom or native OpenXR rendering with Vulkan, OpenGL, or DirectX
Strong understanding of rendering and performance constraints for XR, including 72, 90, or 120 FPS targets, GPU and CPU bottlenecks, and latency concerns
Preferred qualifications
Experience shipping at least one OpenXR-based app or feature to production
Familiarity with OpenXR extensions such as hand tracking, eye gaze, foveated rendering, and scene or space-related extensions
Graphics experience with Vulkan, OpenGL, DirectX, shaders, and profiling tools such as RenderDoc or engine profilers
Android XR experience including Gradle, NDK, JNI, or low-level platform integration
Experience building reusable components or frameworks for XR interaction or app scaffolding
Why This Opportunity
