Job Description:
NMS Assistant Cross Country Coach – Newcastle Public Schools
Position Overview: Newcastle Public Schools is seeking a high-energy, qualified professional to support the Cross Country program at Newcastle Middle School. The Assistant Coach will work closely with the Head Coach to develop a competitive program, foster a positive environment for student-athletes, and promote school spirit.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in managing all aspects of the NMS Cross Country program, including daily training runs, meet preparation, and athlete conditioning.
Support the Head Coach in fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all student-athletes.
Promote teamwork, athletic excellence, and high standards of sportsmanship.
Maintain professional conduct in accordance with district policies and represent Newcastle Public Schools positively.
Qualifications:
Relevant experience in cross country coaching or distance running at a competitive level.
Coaching certification as required by the State of Oklahoma and the Newcastle Board of Education.
Ability to also work as a classroom teacher is strongly preferred.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with students, parents, and staff.
Ability to pass all required background checks and drug screenings.
