Position Overview

Position Summary

Works collaboratively with NM Children, Youth, & Families Department (CYFD) personnel to implement the Title IVE traineeship program for the ENMU Social Work graduate program. This position oversees assigned student placements and activities directly involved in or related to the Title IVE program.

Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a collaborative relationship with CYFD regarding the Title IVE program
  • requirements, agreements, field placements, reports, and students.
  • Recruit, interview, and orient students.
  • Assist students and Site Supervisors in developing appropriate Learning Plans.
  • Act as a resource for students and Site Supervisors regarding the integration of theoretical and experiential-based learning and supervision of students.
  • Monitor student placements by making the required site visits and other follow-up contacts (phone, email) and making additional contacts as needed.
  • Provide required monthly meetings with Title-IVE trainee students.
  • Participate in field seminar classes and in-person sessions.
  • Facilitate student learning through assignments and field seminar meetings.
  • Provide educational field supervision to students in sites without a licensed social worker.
  • Assess students’ knowledge, practice behaviors, competency level, and appropriateness in field placements.
  • Manage stipend application, interview, award, and recoupment processes, as per CYFD contract guidelines.
  • Participate in child welfare-related task force meetings and trainings.
  • Mediate any issues that arise with students, instructors, or agencies.
  • Evaluate students’ progress and recommend grades for field placement.
  • Maintain records related to students’ field placements and Title-IVE program.
  • Monitor, assess, and report on the field experiences provided by agencies.
  • Report about any students having difficulty with field experience or problems with professional misconduct, sexual harassment, safety, or ethical violations.
  • Participate in student review meetings and establish student development plans.
  • Provide licensing exam preparation workshops and other workshops as assigned.
  • Provide data and outcome reports for students involved in the Title IVE traineeship program.
  • Regular and predictable attendance required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Job Requirements:

Licensed Master of Social Work with 2 years post MSW practice experience required.

  • Knowledge of the social work profession and its current practices.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and convey procedures and regulations.
  • Ability to track student information and outcome data and maintain records.
  • Ability to maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with agency personnel and provide required reports.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to independently perform the professional responsibilities of the position.
  • Ability to manage and work with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to guide, monitor, and assess students’ progress and professionalism in field placement.
  • Ability to resolve placement problems that may be related to concerns about the student and/or the agency environment or field instruction/supervision.

  • Ability to create and conduct workshops, meetings, and seminars.

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed during normal work hours, with some evenings and weekends.
  • Work is sedentary in nature with 10 pounds’ maximum weight to lift and carry.
  • Work requires travel to social service agencies throughout eastern New Mexico and in west Texas

Eastern New Mexico University offers a tuition waiver for regular employees and retirees. This program waives the tuition for three courses (up to nine credit hours) per semester. Employees' spouses or children may be eligible to use the tuition waiver during any semester that it is not being used by the employee.
