Position - Mainframe Developer

Location - Toronto, ON (Onsite 4 Days/Week)

Employment Type - Full-Time Permanent

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong experience with the IBM Mainframe technology stack, including:
  • JCL
  • COBOL
  • SQL
  • DB2
  • IMS (Deep IMS knowledge required)
  • Endevor
  • File-AID
  • CA-7
• Proficiency with development and collaboration tools such as INSYNC, Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, including GitHub Copilot and Visual Studio Code (VS Code).

Design & Development Skills

• Ability to independently analyze IMS segments and design technical solutions.
• Experience creating detailed technical designs and documentation.
• Capable of leading and mentoring junior developers.
• Experience participating in end-to-end field mapping, application development, unit testing, and code deployment.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and production deployment processes.

Database Skills

• Strong understanding of DB2 architecture, database objects, and processing.
• Ability to independently analyze and troubleshoot DB2 objects and related issues.

Soft Skills

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong learning agility with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Adaptable and collaborative, with the ability to support team members who may have limited mainframe experience.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Exposure to Apache Kafka.
• Experience developing or integrating RESTful APIs.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain IBM Mainframe applications.
• Analyze IMS segments and DB2 objects to create scalable and efficient technical solutions.
• Prepare detailed technical designs and participate in end-to-end application development.
• Perform coding, unit testing, debugging, and production deployments.
• Lead and mentor junior developers while promoting best practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Utilize AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve productivity.
• Participate in code reviews, issue resolution, and continuous process improvements.
• Support production applications and troubleshoot technical issues as required.
