Fairview Hospital's Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides care to infants that need treatment to recover from severe illnesses and plays a vital role in nursing infants to thrive and achieve health weight post-birth. As a Health Unit Coordinator on this floor, your daily responsibilities will include performing various administrative and clerical tasks to support the organization and flow of the department. A caregiver in this role works evenings from 3:00 p.m. – 11:30 p.m. with rotating weekend and holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

• Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.

• Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.

• Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.

• Assist patients and families with wayfinding and directing them to available resources.

• Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.

• Handle various computer tasks, such as updating schedules and managing patient information.

• Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• High School Diploma or GED

• One year of experience in a customer service-related role

• Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

• College degree

• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)

• Customer service background

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of motion, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.

• Requires frequent data entry, standing and walking for extensive periods of time.

• Requires normal or corrected speech, hearing and vision.

• Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range

Minimum hourly: $18.25

Maximum hourly: $24.95
