Job Description

Position Summary

Guiding Right, Inc. (GRI) is seeking a mission-driven Counseling, Testing, and Referral (CTR) Counselor to provide essential health services to the community. This role focuses on health equity and outreach specifically for individuals at high risk for HIV acquisition.

As a CTR Counselor, you will serve as a vital link to care—conducting screenings, identifying and connecting newly diagnosed clients to medical treatment, re-engaging those previously diagnosed, and facilitating access to PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis) to prevent new infections.

Key Responsibilities

  • CTR Services: Perform HIV screenings using Rapid Testing Technology and conduct STD/Bloodborne pathogen screenings.
  • Patient Navigation: Identify newly diagnosed clients and provide intensive support to link them to medical treatment; assist previously diagnosed clients in re-entering care.
  • Risk Assessment & Planning: Conduct comprehensive behavioral risk assessments and collaborate with clients to develop individualized, measurable risk-reduction plans.
  • Behavioral Coaching: Support and reinforce client behavior changes by providing consistent risk-reduction messaging and identifying solutions to overcome barriers to care.
  • PrEP Advocacy: Educate clients on the benefits of Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and provide hands-on assistance in accessing medication.
  • Holistic Referrals: Develop plans to secure necessary social services—including housing, substance use treatment, and job training—through active referrals, case management assistance, and follow-up.
  • Compliance & Data: Maintain strict HIPAA compliance and confidentiality; ensure high-quality data collection, maintenance, and reporting within the GRI system.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Equivalent Experience: In lieu of a degree, two (2) years of direct, relevant experience in HIV/STI prevention, community outreach, or social services will be accepted.
  • Cultural Competence: Must demonstrate the ability to reflect and serve the diverse communities prioritized by GRI with sensitivity and respect.
  • Professional Growth: Must be willing to obtain phlebotomy training (supported by GRI) for syphilis testing and participate in the Oklahoma HIV/Hepatitis Planning Council.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in computer systems for data entry and report compilation.
  • Legal: Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and pass required background checks.

Working Conditions

  • Travel: Must be willing to travel within the service area.
  • Schedule: Standard business hours, with a willingness to work evening hours and weekends when community outreach events require.
  • Appearance: Follow appearance standards as outlined in the GRI Personnel Appearance Policy.
